Oh a sailor’s life is a life for me
Her home is on the rolling sea
The waves are splishing splashing
On the ship
So say Yo Ho Ho, Yo Ho HO
C’mon my lads
Come sail with me!

I like to sing that song.  It just gets in my head.  Well, my name’s Maddie short for Madison and I live on a boat.  I like to tell jokes and paint faces and dress up.

I am a 2nd grader now.  I finished my whole Calvert 1st grade while sailing.  I could do a lot of schoolwork since we were stuck on the boat for 25 days without seeing land.  It wasn’t too rough, but some days all I wanted to do was read or watch DVDs.

My favorite books are Junie B. Jones, The A-Z Mysteries, and Little House Series.  I love to read and may try Harry Potter this year.

When we crossed the equator I dressed up like a clown and got to jump around on the trampoline with my harness on.  We had cookies and screamed a lot.  No one can hear you way out there anyway.

I am learning how to operate the VHF radio and can call my friends on it who are close by.  There were a lot of kids in the Tuamotos to play with from other boats.  That is where we met the pearl guy who gave me 5 black pearls from his oyster farm.

Oh, yeah!  I learned how to water-ski in Tahiti.  Dad whizzes me around in the dingy.  It was hard to get up at first, but I just kept trying until BAM…up I went!

Climbing Chitzen Itza, the giant Mayan temple was the coolest thing I remember.  Mom was so nervous watching me from below, but I held on to the rope and counted 96 steps on the way up.  Guatemala wasn’t my favorite place, but I liked all the spider monkeys and crafts the ladies make there.

Galapagos was fun to since George and Thomas were there to play with.  We saw giant tortoises and a ton of sea lions.  One night I woke up when I heard a barking noise from my hatch and no joke, a sea lion was just sitting there on our transom hanging out!

I am in Alaska now visiting my Grandma and Grandpa.  I take watercolor and sculpting classes and go camping a lot which is my favorite thing to do besides bike ride when I am here.  I love letters so write to me if you’d like a penpal.
