We’re finally finished with the work necessary to take Ohana away from the comforts of the Bahamas. We purchased Ohana in the fall of 2002 and took that winter to cruise without doing any major projects. Just wanted to see what worked and what did not. She had been built by an experienced bluewater sailor and had already cruised Europe and crossed the Atlantic. The end of that winter left us with a short but important list. She was set up primarily for mid latitude sailing. I’ve put together a rundown of what we did on the "Shakedown" link below. This past winter we put her through her paces with her new "parts" in place. Broke a few things, fixed a few things and learned a few things. In the end we feel she is now ready to take us further south and west. Becky also put time into getting this site re-organized. We started out doing this to keep in touch with our family and friends. It has turned into a personal photo album and way to answer a lot of the questions we receive from folks we meet as we travel. It has also become a record of the girls as they grow. The links below are responses to frequently asked questions I’ve received, thoughts on life aboard and articles of interest regarding living with and raising a family afloat. If you have any questions please feel free to write. I’ve also posted links to many of the suppliers we have used which may be of interest. Email
