We purchased the Ohana in the fall of 2002 with the idea in mind to sail around the world with our family. That is where the name came from, Ohana means "family" in Hawaiian and just seemed to fit. She was built in 1997 for a Dutch Tulip farmer in Holland to a high standard. Designed by Alexander's Yacht Design and constructed by Louis and Hanny Ooms of Mono and Multihull Boatbuilders she is a custom one of a kind catamaran. Above decks she has a very simple sail plan and clean lines. The most noteworthy feature are her wide decks. Plenty of room to walk around and lounge in safety and comfort. Her cockpit is built for offshore sailing and is comfortable and secure.
Below decks Ohana is clean and functional. Entering from the cockpit the first thing one notices is the space, she is wide. A large settee is the perfect spot to read or enjoy a large meal. The navigation station is located just forward to starboard and most of her operations can be handled from the comfort of this interior station. Down below there are three separate staterooms with two full heads and a workshop! If someone needs a nap Ohana is ready! The Mechanical spaces are located in two separate engine rooms in the rear of the boat. Ohana carries everything she needs to travel the world right down to making her own fresh water!
